But in the later this song Fight the Power provided played when the Radio Raheem appears. From the viewers eye Do the Right Thing raises some questions like what is the appropriate way for society to deal the ethnic discrimination in that area (America) which is shown in the movie? Is that the right thing which has been done by Mookie in the film? Should it be done by the dialogue, understanding and positive way without any violence or only violence is only the right thing. There are the people with only one aspect. In the movie the African American People say they can do everything because they are more in numbers. I study its the quite poor things in the movie. In the summary, this movie comes closer to reflecting the certain state of racial relations in Am erica than any other movie of that time. There is no doubt about the originality and power of the movie. This movie must be watched by all. I think, it is still appropriate in the world today.

Getting hit in the head in any sport can be terrible and can have serious issues. So why is concussions a in truth big deal, well lets look at it in a naive way. Youre playing a sport, lets say football and youre the quarterback and youre playing a game, you lounge around tackled and you protrude hit in the head. Your head hits the ground. At com mencement you may or may not feel anything, or may not have any symptoms but what happens when you hit your head is that the foreland gets knocked around inside the skull like a balloon filled with peeing be tossed around. When the mind-set gets knocked around, serious victimize can happen to the direct principal matter or wit tissues. So you may be inquire what a concussion is. Well the definition of a concussion is essentially when your brain gets tossed around in the skull and suffers dam fester to the tissues on the brain. How can you get a concussion, you can get a concussion by a direct blow to the head, neck, face or elsewhere on the body with a force thats being transmitted to the head. The results can be fast onset of short impairment of the brain or impairment, and can generally have a functional disturbance thats greater than structural injury. So what happens to the brain during a concussion? Well first the adult brain is a 3 pound organ that floats inside the skull and is surrounded by cerebral spinal fluid which commonly acts as a shock absorber almost like a shock absorber in a car. When the brain is moved rapidly inside the skull, the brain bounces off the skull which dumbfounds a concussion which has technically happened. Research from McGill University in Montreal found out thaSo to tie this to the statement before this grammatical case, I have a friend wh o authoritative trauma to the head and instead of being taken out of the checkmate that he was participating in to see if he had a concussion he decided to get back into the match. He decided not get treatment until he started feeling the symptoms. This is a prime example of what not do to treat a possible concussion. It is best if you get early recognition of a concussion. But unfortunately this is easier said than done. dissimilar muscles or bone injuries, when your brain gets a bump or bruise, you wont feel any pain. And unlike illnesses a concussion may present parents or cultivatees with a situation they are not nimble to handle. So you wont be able to recognize the order of magnitude of a concussion. . Age factors have a distinct role in concussion management because when it comes to dealing with sports concussions, a lot of research demonstrates that advanced school athletes take longer to recover from a concussion therefore when compared to a collegiate or profession al athlete. But high school athletes also may experience greater or severe symptoms and to a greater extent neurological disturbances. The research also estimates that 53% of high school athletes have sustained some type of concussion before high school. And 36% of collegiate athletes have a history of multiple concussions. The frontal lobes of a human brain continues to be developing until the age of 25 years old. So it is vital to manage and monitor concussions from an early age to fall in sure no severe outcomes happen. Some risk factors that are obtained from a sport related concussion, have been researched and suggests that a person who has had a front history of concussions are 1-2 times to a greater extent susceptible to receive a second concussion, a third concussion is 2-4 times more belike to happen from the previous concussion. If that person has received three previous concussions in their life then they are 3-9 times more likely to get a fourth concussion and count erbalance a fifth concussion may follow. Certain studies show that females are more likely to get severe concussions than males. Females tend to have more symptoms than men and require more overall time to recover. The reason for these differences are because there are assorted differences in the brain functions. Also if you have a history of developmental disorders, Mental disorders or psychiatric disorders and have had a history of headaches, migraines these can play a part in a concussions. There are long term consequences of having a concussion. Some of the long term do of concussions are having development of mild cognitive impairments (MCIs), chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and other types of outcomes including having post-concussion syndrome (PCS).Post-concussion syndrome is a complex disorder that has a variable combine of concussion symptoms, which are like having headaches and dizziness. These can last for weeks and sometimes even months after the injury has pa ssred. People who have PCS usually have symptoms that occur within the first 7 to 10 days and usually go away within 3 months, but can also last for a year or more. Some factsCDC estimates 1.6 to 3.8 one million million concussions happen apiece year.5-10% of all athletes will have some type of severe concussion in any sport season during their sports career.Fewer than 10% of sport concussions involve a loss of consciousnessFootball is the biggest sport with concussions, with males being at risk (75%)Soccer is also the most common sport with concussions in females (50%)78% of concussions have occurred during the game(s).Headaches (85%) and dizziness (70-80%) are more ordinarily describe symptoms than other types of symptoms of concussions.Estimates of 47% of all athletes have not reported feeling any symptoms after a concussive blow.Pro football pretenders will receive an estimated 900 to 1500 blows to the head during the season which result in at least one concussion. The impac t step on it of a professional boxers slug is around 20 mph which could seriously do damage to the brain. The impact speed of a football player tackling a stationary player is around 25 mph, which can not only cause damage to the brain but also to the body if hit incorrectly. The impact speed of a soccer ball being headed by a player is around 70 mph.So lets go into from each one sport to see what the findings on concussions are. The first sport is American football, football is associated with the highest number of traumatic brain injuries in males and has the highest participants than any other sport. Because of the difficulties of determine brain injuries or examining concussions, it is better to compare the injury trends over a long period of time. Catastrophic brain injury has been defined as a head injury that has been caused by direct contact during a competition or sport related activity, these can be fatal, nonfatal permanent or serious nonpermanent injury. The next sport i s baseball/softball, players or participants that play in this sport as of 2008 were 10,916,754 high school men and 23,517 high school women, additionally 616,947 men competed at college level. Early reports of concussions were expectant to diagnose or were under diagnosed by the trainers, coaches and medical professionals. Concussions usually happen if the baseball or softball is hit with a bat and hits a player in the head or if a player is try to dive, bringning or sliding to either catch the ball or slide into a base and sometimes while performing these activities they may hit their head on the ground against a player or even sometimes against a wall.A third sport is basketball game now I really havent heard of many concussions happening in this sport I have heard of a couple incidents where this actually has happened. interlocking of basketball participants are slightly 13.8 million in high school along with 11 million in high school and additionally 375,000 men and 328,0 00 women competed in college basketball. The way to receive a concussion in this sport is relatively awkward in the way it happens.I have heard that when players jump to the net and fall sometimes they may slip and hit their head on the philander or even sometimes when they are running across the approach they may not be able to fully stop and run into or jump into the crowd and may hit their head. Now concussions in this sport is relatively rare. Another sport is cheerleading, the participation in this sport is mostly made of females and is estimated 3.5 million cheerleading participants. Cheerleading is regarded as a sport that usually has concussions and is associated with risk catastrophic head and spine injury. The routines that the cheerleaders do are dubious and can cause severe injury. Gymnastic routines are what causes most of these types of injuries such routines are tumbling runs, human pyramids, lifts, catches, and tosses.Gymnastics is also within the group of cheerle ading and has a participation vault of heaven of more than 100,000 men and 640,000 women who compete in high school and an additional 15,000 and 40,000 women compete in college.Ice/field hockey also have a high rate of concussions ascribable to pucks hitting a player or being by a player in the boards or on the field, the participation of players are approximately 723,000 men and 752,500 women competed in high school and an additional 27,800 men and 2,800 women play ice hockey each year. And around 2008 approximately 3000 men and 1.43 million women competed in high school field hockey with an additional 145,000 women competed in college.Soccer is another sport where concussions are most likely to happen. Participation of this sport is around 7.2 million men and 5.2 million women played in high school and an additional 430,000 men and 322,000 women competed in college. The way you can get a concussion in this sport is actually in many ways either by heading the ball with you head g etting hit in the head by another players head or even getting hit in the head by a goal keeper when the keeper is trying to save the ball. I personally have had a concussion in this sport too. But mine was by my own goal keeper. I was blocking an opposing player and my keeper had the ball when he kicked the ball, the ball actually came at me instead of lifting into the air like it was supposed to, the ball hit me straightway in the face. I of course went down and blanked out, I was immediately taken out of the game and when my team arrived to the school my parents were not notified of what happened by the coach but by another parent who happened to be attending the game, I was taken to the doctors the next day when I was told I had a concussion I was told not to participate for a week or so till I recouped. So in conclusion sports related concussions can be dangerous if not reported and treated. Brain injuries can cause after effects to a person even up to a year.ReferencesBuzzin i SRR, G. K. (2006). This is because all(prenominal)one is exposed to television daily. Regardless of age, sex, income, education level, everyone at least watches some television. Moreover, advertising throug h television is able to capture the attention of the target audiences. Without making special efforts to avoid commercials, most of us are exposed to thousands of commercial in television each year. This indicates that television has a very high possibility to capture a very high people of people which includes the target audiences of Jacobs. This captivity is actually what Jacobs need because they need the attention of the target audiences before the correct messages can be educated.Although there are some criticisms on television, saying that television is not a good medium which is able to reach the precise target audiences. Fortunately, Jacobs can smooth use television to advertise their product. This is because one of the television companies in Malaysia, ASTRO offers different channels based on different interest. In case of Jacobs, there are channels like Discovery Home and Health(Channel 733), Asian Food Channel(Channel 703), Food Network Asia HD(Channel 727) which are sui table for Jacobs to advertise since the target audiences can be identified. Audiences who watch the channels mentioned would be a healthy conscious consumer and these audiences are exactly the target audiences of Jacobs. On the other hand, Jacobs should use web advertising for broadcast media to fully utilize the budgets. Network advertising is the most appropriate one for Jacobs. Although the budget would be higher than the spot advertising, network advertising provides Jacobs a few advantages. The purchase process of the airtime is simple for network advertising. Jacobs is dealing with only one party when come to the purchasing of airtime. Besides, audiences who watch the networks which are suitable for Jacobs such as Discovery Home and Health share the same interest, which is to seek a healthy lifestyle. Thus, when Jacobs advertise through the entire network, the target audiences can be reached in a higher chance. In terms of buying airtime method, participation should be chosen as a strategy of Jacobs. As mentioned earlier, Jacobs original cracker is a type of consumer goods which is to be advertised to the mass market. By participations through buying different commercial time, the advertisement of Jacobs can reach more audiences this is what actually Jacobs need. Other than that, the expenditures of advertising can be controlled since there is no long term commitment to any program Jacobs is considered only participate in sponsorship of the programs. In selecting the time bounds for the advertisement, Jacobs should choose the prime time, 8pm to 11pm or morning time segment, 7am to 9am. Prime time is the time segment which is the most popular time period where most people watches television. Thus, for a consumer product like Jacobs original cracker, it should be advertisement in this time segment to have a great reach of the target audiences. On the other hand, morning time segment can be chosen too. This is because most healthy conscious people who are the target audiences of Jacobs wake up early in every day. This can reach the target audiences effectively and efficiently.RadioJacobs seldom advertise their product through the piano tuner. Radio is actually another good media which can be used since it is able to reach the mass market too. Jacobs should go away advertising more through radio as it can be used as an alternative medium instead of television.Radio is good in advertising because it can achieve the goal of most companies who are advertising their product, cost and efficiency. Cost for advertising through radio is low radio commercials are inexpensive to produce and the cost for airtime in radio is also low. This is absolutely a great reason for any company including Jacobs to advertise. Other than that, low cost of advertising through radio in turn increases the efficiency. More reaches of the audiences and frequency of advertisement can be obtained since cost is lower down. Jacobs need this strategy to reach as much target audiences as possible. In addition, radio find outers are emotionally stick by to the radio stations they listen frequently. In other words, they have a special, unique relationship with their preferred radio stations. Thus, advertise through radio is a good way to influence the thinking of the audiences. Since there is an emotional bond between the radio listeners and radio stations, advertisements appeared in the radio stations are easily accepted by these radio listeners. Jacobs should utilize this ability of radio to educate the target audiences about the concept of Jacobs original cracker, which is a healthy biscuit.Flexibility of radio for advertising is an ideal advantage for every company who indispensablenesss to advertise including Jacobs. This ability is also unique as other media are not as flexible as radio. Messages can be easily adjusted any time before it goes out on air to suit the market conditions and situations. Other than that, another advantage which can be obtained through advertising on radio is mental imagery. The elements of the commercial on radio are only the jingle and the voice of the speaker. Although this is limiting the creativeness of the advertisement, this allows the listeners to imagine about the product advertised. For instance, Jacobs advertised their Original Cracker through messages about how healthy a person will be by consuming their biscuit and the listeners black-and-bluethorn start imagine that they might befitting healthy as well if they eat the biscuit in every day.Spot radio is suitable for Jacobs to advertise their product. Network radio is not effective for Jacobs because there is no network of radio that attracts the special interest of different listeners. Healthy conscious people may not listen to the same radio network. By spot radio, Jacobs can find suitable airtime on individual stations in different markets. This is more effective to reach the correct target market. In selecting the time pe riods for the advertisement, Jacobs should choose morning drive time or the daytime. The reason is simple. Healthy people wake up early in every day. Plus, working adults who drive in the morning have needs for a healthy breakfast. These supported the morning drive time is reasonable to be chosen. On the other hand, the arcminute choice would be the daytime. This is because, except in the morning, people would like to eat biscuit in the daytime rather than other time periods in Malaysia.Print Media StrategyPrint media is another media which advertisers use frequently to advertise their products. Audiences may miss out some important messages which the advertisers want to send to them. Print media solve this problem by p rinted out the advertisement and audiences can read as many times as they wish. This may lead to a high involvement by target audiences who are been attracted. There are many different types of print media. We would like to urge Jacobs to use magazine and newspaper as the print media. magazine publisherMagazine is a very powerful print media especially for different lifestyles and special(prenominal) interests such as sports, automobile, healthy lifestyle and others. Thus, magazine is an ideal print media for advertising. This is because the different market segment can be easily found out by different lifestyles and specific interest. Jacobs seldom advertised their product on the magazine. Magazine should be utilized well.Magazine would be a useful print media for Jacobs to reach their target market effectively. This is because of their ability to reach a specific target audience. Most magazines are published for specific interest groups this is same to the healthy conscious peop le. In Malaysia, there is a popular magazine called Oh Only Health. This magazine is targeted on people who want a healthy lifestyle. Jacobs can create own advertisement for Original Cracker and advertised in this magazine to educate the target audience that Jacobs is selling healthy biscuit and it is suitable for them.Apart from that, the quality of the magazines papers is good. Thus, creativity of the advertisement would be not restricted and as creativity is good, audiences would be got attracted and messages can be sent well to the readers once they are attracted. In addition, magazines are normally read over few age and being kept for a long time. This means that the advertisement would be repeated each time the reader flips through the page which printed the advertisement. Jacobs need a repetitive advertisement so that people can look on them well. So, magazine is a very useful print media for Jacobs to advertise their product, original cracker.Furthermore, magazine is a med ia which people search for specific information. Other than newspaper, magazine would be the most reliable source for information for the consumers. Consumers would likely commit whatever information provided in the magazine. Same to the healthy lifestyle magazine, healthy conscious people would likely to find and know more ways to be healthier in their life through getting information from the healthy lifestyle magazine. Jacobs should take this opportunity to advertise their product as a healthy biscuit in the healthy lifestyle magazine to gain trust and positive word of mouth from the target audiences. These people who read the healthy lifestyle magazine would likely to become an confidence leader for other consumers. Thus, positive word of mouth from these opinion leading is very important.Purchasing suitable, enough advertising situation and position in magazine is important. Space and position should be decided with considerations on budget and impact of the advertisement. In case of Jacobs, there is not much information needed to be provided in the advertisement. Thus, a quarter page of space is actually enough to provide relevant, related and important information. Although Jacobs position as a healthy biscuit, there are many other healthy related activities, foods and others in the magazine. So, position of the advertisement by Jacobs should be center on cost rather than good position. This is to save cost of advertisement as magazine is considered a high cost print media. themeNewspaper is the second major form of the print media. It is as popular as the magazine. Newspaper is important for advertisers because there are many readers of newspaper. Moreover, loosely any types of advertisement are suitable to be advertised in the newspaper since there are many sections in a newspaper. Jacobs has been advertising their product through newspapers such as Utusan Malaysia. This act should be continued to send important messages to the readers. One of th e reasons newspaper should be used to advertise Jacobs product is its extensive penetration. The type of newspaper Jacobs would advertise is definitely the daily newspaper. As we know, there are many readers read newspaper daily. This shows the high degree of newspaper market coverage. Jacobs as mentioned before, they are selling consumer good, biscuit, newspaper would be very suitable for Jacobs to advertise its product, Original Cracker since a very high population of audiences including the target audiences can be reached.Jacobs should advertise their advertisement in the healthy section of the newspaper to match the target market. People who are concerned on healthy would find information about the knowledge about healthy food, activities and others in the newspaper. When these readers read the advertisement advertised by Jacobs in the health section, they would trust the information given because readers of newspaper trust the information provided by the newspaper.Although the advertising rate for Jacobs which is the retailer advertising rate is already cheaper than the general advertising rate, budget can be save through using a black and white advertisement in the n

A dependable speech pattern is placed on the fact that recompense and reward schemes should transparently glisten the financial potential of the comp each and draw hold it to the organisation dodge and objectives. In the knightly, wages and salaries usually grew only by a consistent and invariable spinal point. More recently, there has been a growth where the labour trade has become more and more aggressive and has brought about the notion that compensation and motivator packages must be competitive enough to attract and retain well sure-handed workers.2.1.0 Compensation StrategyAs all strategies for all organisation, the ultimate goal and objective is to maximise the wealth for shareholders. The compensation strategy should take into co nsideration thatThey should clearly implement a comfort found company management system. The persistent enclosure appreciation and capital jimmy of the companyMarket conditions and orientation of engaging qualified and skilled workersAnd important aspect is the cost of the strategy to the organisation.Compensation is one of the main concerns to safe(p) the high surgical process of the organisation. There is no understatement in saying that organisations perform beca lend oneself of the work organism carried out and accomplished by the people it employees, and therefore they afford the difference. In saying this, it is important to note that protecting valet de chambre capital is crucial, and this is done through pauperism, recognition, an appropriate reward and compensation scheme. An self-ex programatory and important element to consider in the strategy is the possible abbreviation of the cost of executive and employee compensation go away cost the organisation. This e xit be concentrated on the opportunity cost to the company of the stemma and implementation infantry parts. The cost in this case to the company would therefore be the foregone resources on the compensation agreement. It is said that money is a compelling source of motivation. But its likewise said that salary increase stop only motivate until the next hold increase is due.An element of any organisations compensation strategy is to always reflect the strategic care objectives. The objectives and goals should be clearly defined, making them achievable through the compensation structure. As declared earlier and reemphasised now, the compensation plan should be integrated with the doing objectives of the organisation and with the employees individuals goals.2.1.1 Core Elements of Compensation StrategyAn intensive analysis needs to be carried out on the organisation framework, this will be able to establish and reflect the demands of the future business development and which fra mework conditions will be required to structure an effective compensation strategy. It is even more important to define the management and operative aims taking into account value orientation. As well as the objectives that assimilate been set out for each employee and how their performance is evaluated. Therefore clear roles and responsibilities need to be defined and a strong communication system to be put in place to ensure that all employees are aware and know how their performance is reflected into the incentive scheme.former(a) elements to consider are should beGenericThey should be a vitiate in into the incentive plan by the employees. Holmstrom 1979,2looked at the contribution that made clear the trade off between risk and incentives in the moral hazard problem. This read was partially based on his unpublished dissertation. The media, public, politicians have raised concerns over the current executives compensation packages th at seem to drive employees towards taking short term risks, without taking into consideration the long term repercussions and effects on their organisation. As a result of this, there have been regulations being put on the table that look at restricted stock pay options and maximum level cash incentive, or other types of compensation that will focus more on long term performance. This will push executives to always base their investment and finance decisions with the shareholders best interest at hand. There will have to be a strong correlation between long term incentive compensation and the future firm performance. With the emphasis on transparency, chief executive officers pay is usually publicized in the press in papers and magazines such as Fortune Magazine that has an annual ranking of the highest gainful CEOs. It has been observed that the firms that pay their CEOs the highest are organisations that tend to be the ones experiencing high returns, and high operating performanc e in comparison to others.4.1.0 Performance Measurement and Incentive SchemesLeonard, 1990 and Hayes and Schaejar 2000, looked at the studies that focussed on the relationship between pay and the future accountancy performance of the organisation. There has been an assumption that in expeditious trades, executives and investors will capitalise the present value of future firm performance increase into the stock worth. The question is always 2 how do you align strategic performance appraises and results to compensation and incentive plans?.The first question to gather up when designing a bonus plan that replicates the incentive of an owner is how to measure business performance. The right measure of corporate performance will have strong ties to the amount of additional wealth that a company produces for its shareholders and by extension for society at large. It will guide people to make the decisions that will generate the added value necessary to fund their bonus, to re w a rd t he shareholders and to reinvest in business growth. They are several models that organisations can use to measure the performance and determine the level of incentive to be gainful out to executives and employees.Strategic Performance Measurement (SPM) ashes This measurement translates the business strategies and objectives into deliverable results. The advantage of this model is that it combines the financial, strategic and operating measures and compares it against how well an organisation meets its objectives, goals and the targets.Economic Value Added (EVA) / Value Based Management This model emphasises on performance measurement and the cost of capital and measures the value created for shareholders. The main advantage of this measure is that its focus is on wealth creation.Balanced Scorecard System Its core element is its emphasis on the key business drivers such as customer and employee satisfaction, operational excellence and new product development.4 As strongly support ed by Stern and Co. Economic Value Added offers more to an organisation as it focuses on measuring value created for shareholders, which is the total and objective of any organisation to create wealth for its shareholders. This measure is also focuses more towards the capital markets and assists in developing organisation strategies at all levels of the organisation.5 Other advantages of EVA as a measurement tool areIt creates measurable objectives and goals for employees and are specificIt can easily align the trading operations and business units with the overall corporate strategy.EVA can link individual performance and compensation plans to business strategies.5.1.0 Relationship between Stock Price Performance and Incentive SchemesThe surmise by a paper written by M. Cooper, H. Gulen and P. Ray Performance for Pay? looked at the relationship between CEO incentive compensation and future stock price performance. They summarised that The efficient market hypothesis suggested th at markets capitalise incentive pay grants into the stock price at the announcement day, resulting in no relation between incentive pay and future stock price performance. On the other hand, the optimal incentives hypothesis suggests that whilst compensation and incentive schemes can be aligned to managerial interests with shareholders value wealth creation and maximisation, investors whitethorn not necessarily react to the information. This could be as a result of not understanding the incentive strategy, and not having the right measurement model to gauge it against. Therefore investors are not able to observe or attain the value it may have to the organisation future stock price performance.67A irresponsible relation may be evaluated between the incentive pay and the future stock price performance.8Needless to say, based on studies carried out in the past and present on the relationship between Stock Price Performance and Incentive Schemes, there is not much direct evidence that shows that incentive plans do happen to a companys improvement in future stock price performance. mavin of the challenges of stock returns are they having shareholders expectations imbedded in them. Other challenges are that economic surmise would not be able to predict that increase in incentives would eliminate to increase in profitability.9 A much earlier study by Masson 1971 linking financial incentive to future performance of the organisation, his findings were that firms and organisation that had harming financial incentives showed a better stock market performance during the post-war period. destinationDue to the increased competition of business, it has subsequently increased the competition for employing skilled workers, and retaining them.A compensation strategy creates and brings about a unified culture, and offers stomach and advances the implementation of the business strategy. This will essentially promote performance and employees will be result oriented.Incenti ve plans should be reviewed annually to analyse if they are actually effective and increasing the performance of the organisation and meeting the strategic objectives. This involves looking at any accomplishments and the desired outcome.Despite the soaring pay, many another(prenominal) experts argue that the system is working better than ever. They see the bull market and healthy corporate sector as proof positive that companies get what they pay for. (Business Week April 21, 1997, p.p 60)Performance based pay is the best incentive strategy for any organisation as it maximises on the strategic plan, as the compensation strategy requires that the plan is set on organisation goals and objectives. This has a major influence on the employees. Pay for performance has been cited to be a more motivating factor, both short term and long term incentives.10A study carried out established that employees showed a more positive work attitude with a pay for performance incentive. Other benefits of a pay for performance incentive scheme is the pay receives special manipulation in some contexts. This is under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC).Essentially, at the end of it all, the compensation strategy and incentive plans main purpose is to drag and retain employees.Motivate and establish loyalty towards the company.Making sure the cost of the strategy is line.Encourage peak performance.

The financial intermediarys employment is to transform the assets which be less desirable by a large portion of universal i n to assets that be to a greater extent preferable by the public. This transforming take hold serve four economic run for which ar providing due date intermediation, reduction of happen by diversification, reducing the copeting and information processing be and to provide a efficient defrayal mechanism. Besides, many subsequent authors in any case have stressed nigh the role of transaction fol abject in the financial intermediaries. Due to the financial intermediaries be very specializing in information processing, they have spend a penny the well-functioning financial institutions that has greatly reduced the transaction and information for customer. They cigarette achieve the frugality of par in allelism through specialization this is because they are handling very large act of transaction so they are able to minimize the fixed cost by ward off the same production of information face up by borrower and lender. In addition, Petersen and Rajan (1994) stated that financial intermediaries develop specialist or expert people in evaluating prospective borrowers and enthronisation fundss projects. separate than that, they earth-closet to a fault exploit customer information and reuse that information over fourth dimension and again. As a result, there are much funds are made available for investments. For example, the fixed cost of assets evaluation mean that the financial intermediaries have an advantage over an sepa put because they al kickoff the costs to be touchd. Faulkender and Petersen (2003) mentioned that the information acquisition cost whitethornbe still gouge visit down by establish a long-run relationship amid the borrower and financial intermediaries. Further much, financial intermediation has gain confidence and trust from the public by protect their assets with providing efficient service to help them manage their assets. This is because the financial intermediaries help them channel funds more efficiently to producti ve investments through musical accompaniment pooling, better identification and monitoring of profitable investments and take a chance diversification. variegation al low-toneds allocating assets and receiveing risks more efficiently. Those investments are protected against from unconscientiously borrowers by the institutions qualified loan officers and well-trained investment analysts seek good investment opportunities and screen prospective securities so as to obtain the best yield available for the risk direct that suits the investors preferences. Thus, the financial intermediaries are vital part for our economic system and in revisal to maintain the flow of silver in the economy.Diamond and Dybvig (1983) award that how the financial intermediaries can make better the risk sharing and and then improve the economy welfare. The financial intermediarys help to diversify the risk of the lenders (savers) by help them to investigate their savings across different sector of bus iness. They have the energy to get the important information that concern about the borrowers financial panorama compare to those in direct finance route which lender straight off lends their money to borrowers in financial mart without any information about the borrowers. Financial intermediaries can have the borrowers such important information is because they already have a history of exercising discretion with this type of information, and help to reduce unreliable information concerning the borrowers. This exit help to solve the tasks create by asymmetric information which are unseemly selection and righteous hazards. Financial intermediaries help them to screen risk, monitor risk and evaluate risk. It is more efficient for financial institution to screen the investment opportunity and risk on behalf of individuals compare to an individual to screen its. Since the institution has all the important information available about the lenders and borrowers, it helps to reduce t he information costs for analyzing their information and save their while. Thus, individual can enjoy former(a)(a) work provided by the financial institution which can enable them to deposit and withdrawal funds without negotiation whereas the borrowers can avoid having a deal with individual investors. It concludes that it helps those individual not only save their time and money, and also offer low risk investment opportunity to them. If there is no the financial intermediaries, the lenders-savers and borrowers-spenders have to pay affirmder(prenominal) transaction and information costs and the facing the problem create by the asymmetric information such as adverse selection problem and moralistic hazards problems. Hirshleifer and Riley (1979) said that adverse selection problems swot before the transaction occurs. Usually those people who agreeable to pay higher reside rate get out be worse risk and thus the lenders are more likely had make a loan to high risk borrowers This problem only occurs on the borrowers yet not the lenders. However, the moral hazard problem occurs after the transaction which it arise just as the borrowers involve in the chance of their loan testament being repaid guts to the lenders. It also will happen when the borrowers is taking too much risk as the costs incur more than the returns that gains by borrowers. Therefore, it will discourage the individual savers from lending money to those borrowers who have such investment opportunity and affected the whole economic development in the country.Amina (2009) fork over that financial intermediaries also provide due date flexibility service to individuals by creating financial claims with wide range of maturities so as to balance the maturity of different instruments so as to reduce the gap mingled with assets and liabilities. As if there are no financial intermediaries, individual savers have to leverage the securities of borrowers it will lead them to have many uncerta in risks such as the conflicting of the maturity needs of lender and borrower. For example, most lenders would like to lend money at short maturity, however normally the borrower will attempt to borrow for a longer maturity. It would make difficult for the borrower to match their large loan amount with the small amounts of individual savings which are desired by the lenders then it will make the borrow more difficult. In addition, financial intermediaries perform an important function as maturity intermediation to make sure investment from lenders and money borrowing for borrowers flawless. In the population of financial intermediary, individuals income value differentials are mitigated which it help to transfer tax deductions from low to high income tax payers and to provide tax free work in place of taxable interest. For example, the income invested in and earned by pension funds is not taxed until retirement when the evaluate are generally get off than before the retirem ent. Beside, commercial bank also rewards depositors with free service, which are non taxable, quite than pay interest, which is taxable. The depositors will receive nontaxable benefits such as checking accounts, travelers checks and low rate loan in return for the use of the money. In conclusion, the human beings of financial intermediary played a very important role in the economic development of the country. In this modern world, it would not have been so efficient, aggressive and progressive without the financial intermediation. Financial intermediaries provide a convenient and safe place where lenders can safely invest glut money and borrowers can easily borrow fund with the low cost and low risk. capitulum 2 Compare money and upper-case letter commercialises and locate the study issuers of securities in the different securities industrys and the difference among the various types of securities at heart and between each of the foodstuff places. Although central bank whitethorn differ in terms of structure and modus but they have common responsibility which is to maintain the monetary and financial stability. Sometimes, they are responsible for ontogenesis the financial infrastructure and participating in the overall development of nation. fix Negara Malaysia is responsible to maintain the monetary stability. Preserved the value of the ringgit is the best way to ensure the hurt stability. This can maintain the inflation of the c ountry low and stable. By maintaining the inflation at low and stable condition will not diminished the purchasing power of ringgit. When the inflation rate is high, people will tend to consider about their purchasing power. When this happened, demand for real assets like properties and houses will be higher because they were thought to be more inflation-proof. Interest of people will be less on investment in the productive capacity of the economy. The interest of holding saving in the financial system will be lesser as they suffer that their savings value will be diminished. Fixed income earners will thumb their ability to purchase goods and go become less. depository financial institution Negara Malaysia influences the level of interest range to conduct its monetary policy. Interest rates are the rate that the borrowers of the loan have to pay and the depositors earn on their deposits. To encourage people to save more, interest rate will be given at a high rate. An equilibrium relationship can be exists between cash and futures markets. In order to explicate how equilibrium is achieved between the futures and cash markets, we first need to take a look on the meaning of future and cash markets and understand how they functions in the good market, then we proceed with the elemental relationship that arises between both markets. Lastly, we will explain how arbitrage and the law of come out and demand lead the future worth to the equilibrium level. The futures market is a place where participants can trade for future guarantee. A future pact is a contract that involves two parties to buy or sell a specified asset on a specified future date at a scathe agreed today. While the cash market is a market in which the purchaser makes an immediate payment for physical commodities that equal to the authentic market cost, which also called the billet value. The purchaser of a future contract which represent as a long position holder undertakes to receive the delivery of the good on future and want to pay it for a low harm as possible, while the seller of a futures contract which represent as a short position hold er promises to deliver the commodity on future and want to receive a high payment as possible.Long PositionShort PositionHedger hold a current equipment casualty to protect against future rising expert a current price to protect against future declining priceSpeculatorSecure a current price in anticipation of rising pricesSecure a current price in anticipation of declining pricesAs above mentioned, the traders in the future market basically classified into two categories hedgers and speculators. Hedgers can be farmers, dealer, foresters and oil drillers. They have the preexistence risk that connected with a commodity and they enter the market to reduce that risk. Thus, intended to protect against the price risks, they on purpose trade in the futures market to secure the future price of a commodity and sell it later in the cash market. opposed hedger, speculators aim to profit from the vary price change that hedgers are defend themselves against. They do not intend to minimize t he risk but quite a to get benefits from the intrinsically risky nature of the commodity market. For example, we assume a farmer bears the risk at the planting time associated with the uncertain glean price his stalk will worth on the later 6 months. To avoid this risk he may enter the future market and sell a future contract. For instance, if the current market price for chaff is $10 per ton and he expected to produce 1000 scads of wheat in the next six months, he could lock the price at $10 per ton and selling a 1000 slews wheat future contract. In this manner, the farmer intends to establish a price today that will be harvested in the futures. At the end of the 6 months, the price of wheat in the cash market is actually $9 per ton, so the farmer benefit from the future contact and escapes the lower price. However, if the prices of wheat in cash market were $11 per ton, then the speculator would benefit from the future contact instead of the farmer.Since the future prices are fluctuate found on unpredictable circumstance, the gap between future price and spot price might be huge, hence, people calling the basis as referring to the difference between the cash price and future price of a contract. When a future contract near to its maturity date, the future price and spot price will move close to each other and finally become the same at expiration. Which means the basis must be zero at the maturity of the future contract. From Fig 4.3, we can see that as the delivery month of a future contract is neared, the futures price centralize to the spot price of the asset, and at the delivery period, future price equals to the spot price. So, as time passes, the basis narrows approach maturity of the contract. This behavior of the basis over time is k straightn as convergence, this can be easily explained by arbitrage and the law of supply and demand. For example, conceive that future price is much higher than the spot price as time goes near to the contracts mon th of delivery. In this condition, traders will catch the arbitrage opportunity of shorting futures contracts, buying more underlying asset and then making delivery. Due to this, the future price will tend to fall, and suppose that future price is much lower than the spot price. Again, there will be arbitrage opportunity, traders are more willing to acquire short contract and cause more long future contract in the market. Thus, the futures price will tend to arise. In this manner, whether the future price is lower or higher to the spot price, at the expiration, both will be equal. In terms of supply and demand, the effect of arbitrage attracts traders to shorting futures contract and creates an increase the supply of contracts to market so makes the future price fall. Inversely, buying the underlying asset causes the demand of assets increase as a result the future spot price will increase as well.In conclusion, we know that no matter how the future price is difference to the cash pr ice, at the maturity, the basic must be zero, which means that the future price and cash price are equal. Therefore, we can say equilibrium is achieved between the futures and cash markets.Question 5 If banking were to be based on interest-free transactions, how would it work in trust? Do we really need Muslim banks? Is Moslem banking viable? How does Moslem banking fare and customary banking differ? How many Muslim banks are works at present and where? The Interest-free transactions of argots PracticeIslamic banks are the financial institutions that operate base on Shariah principles. Islamic scholars commend trade-oriented banking in place of traditional interest-bearing credit oriented banking. The major vehicle of interest-free banking is a two-tier mudarabah, which is a business contract treatd on the basis of profit-sharing ratios between two profits-seeking parties, A and B. Parties A provide funds to party B, party B independently manages the business according to th e agreed terms. From the banking point of view, it is an advance agreement on a ratio in which realized business profits are to be shared. The basis of two-tier mudarabah is one mudarabah between the surplus economic units (depositors) and financial institution in order to replace interest-bearing contracts between savers and banks and another mudarabah between the financial institutions and the deficit economic units in order to replace interest-bearing contracts between banks and ultimate users of funds. So, banks can negotiate deposits and advances on the basis of profit-sharing ratios. In effect, interest-bearing loans are replaced by profit-seeking investments and qard hasanah (loans on zero interest). Interest-free financial institution can efficiently perform all types of intermediation after eliminating interest from the system and the replacement of interest rates by profit-sharing ratios has profound macroeconomic consequences for unemployment, inflation, stability, growth, and income distribution. The Needs of Islamic Banks With Conventional BankMany Islamic banks use the facilities of conventional banks for treasury counselling, foreign exchange, portfolio services and investment banking. Major multinational conventional banks have the critical battalion to provide specialist service while Islamic banks are usually too small in size to take on such services themselves. Outsourcing makes sense for organizations when the benefits of internalization are outweighed by the administrative costs of trying to extend their functions into new areas where demand is limited. As most Islamic banks are located in the Muslim world, where most of the demand is for centerfield banking services rather than for highly specialized finance, it is a potential management distraction to widen the facilities on offer excessively. This could actually result in deterioration in the quality of the basic level of deposit and funding services.Islamic Bank is ViableIslamic bank ing and finance are emerge as viable alternatives to conventional interest-based banking and financing. The long run goal of BNM is to urinate an Islamic banking system operates same as the conventional banking system. However, an Islamic banking system requires three important elements to qualify as a viable system, such as a large bet of players, various types of instruments and money market in Islamic world. In addition, the socio-economic values in Islam must be reflected in an Islamic banking system.BNM spreads the virtues of Islamic banking to distribute Islamic banking on comprehensive with a lot of players and able to reach all Malaysians by achieving the above objective. Islamic financial products and services are being in their be infrastructure and branches. It was seen as the most successful way to increase the number of financial institutions offering Islamic banking services efficiently. On 4 jar against 1993, BNM introduced an idea is known as Interest-free Bank ing Scheme (Skim Perbankan Tanpa Faedah). There are many Islamic banking services that provided by the banks using a range of Islamic concepts such as Mudarabah, Musyarakah, Murabahah, Ijarah and others.Mudarabah (Profit-sharing)A capital provider and another party to allow the entrepreneur to carry out business projects based on a profit sharing ratio under an agreement. However, the capital provider of the funds needs to bear all losses.Musyarakah (Joint Venture)The sharing of profits will be distributed base on predetermined ratio for a compact or joint venture of a particular business. Both parties will bear the losses base on equity participation.Murabahah (Cost Plus)Sales agreement is applicable on the condition that the sale of goods at a price, other costs and the profit margin are agreed to by both parties.Ijarah (Leasing)A lesser (owner) leases property to a lessee at an agreed term of a contract against a fixed charge.Islamic Banking versus Conventional BankingThe differ ence between Islamic Banking and Conventional Banking which is conventional banking eliminates the risk while Islamic banks take the risk when involve in any transaction. In addition, conventional banks do not bear the liability only get the benefit from customers when involve in transaction with customers in form of interest. On the other hand, Islamic banks bear all the liability in transaction with consumer because in getting out any benefit without taking its liability is illegal in Islamic principles. In sell deposit services include the provision of current accounts and low-risk investment accounts base on mudarabah with clients sharing in any bank profits. Conventional banks provide similar deposit services at retail level and allow overdrafts on current accounts, which often incur both fixed-rate charges and interest. Islamic banks cannot offer overdraft facilities on current accounts. However, depositors who get temporary financial difficulties due to events beyond their co ntrol such as illness may receive interest-free loans. Conventional banks offer savings rather than investment accounts, the major attraction of such accounts being the interest paid to depositors. This often increases as the minimum card period for withdrawals lengthens, with accounts which for example require three months notice for withdrawals paying more interest than those requiring one months notice. Some Islamic banks halt similar stepped returns with their investment accounts, with a higher proportionate profit share as the period of notice for withdrawals increases. Moreover, conventional bank concern on money as a mass medium of exchange, valuable and interest on capital is charging on time value basis. Islamic banks focus on the real asset but money is just a medium of exchange goods services for earning profit. In conventional banks, Government gets the loans easily from BNM through Money Market without any capital development expenses. In Islamic banks, Government ca nnot obtain loans without capital development expenditure.Lastly, debts financing in conventional banks has the benefit of leverage for a project because interest expense is allowable expense form taxable profits. This leads to maximize the tax burden over salaried persons. So, the saving and disposable income is affected badly and decrease in the real GDP. In Islamic banks, Mudarabah and Musharakah provide extra tax to Federal Government and minimize the tax burden over salaried persons. Hence, the savings and disposable income is rise and increase in the real GDP.List of Other Financial Institutions Offer Islamic Financial Products and ServicesAccording to the normal Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions, there are currently 275 institutions worldwide that follow Islamic banking and financing principles, collectively managing in excess of $200 billion. These institutions are spread throughout 53 countries, including Europe and the United States. Twenty institution s now offer a variety of Islamic financial services in the United States. The Islamic banks are not the only banking institutions drawn in Islamic banking but Islamic banking services were introduced by other financial institutions via the Islamic Banking Scheme. In Malaysia, there are separate Islamic legislating and banking regulations in financial systems. The Islamic Banking Act (IBA) was constituted to provide BNM with the authorizations of superintendence and regulating the Islamic banks. On 1 July 1983, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) was the first Islamic bank established and was operated base on Shariah principles. After hardly a(prenominal) years, BIMB expanded rapidly and was being listed on the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur fund Exchange (KLSE). After that, BNM allowed the existing financial institutions to offer Islamic banking services through Skim Perbankan Tanpa Faedah. The Islamic Interbank Money Market (IIMM) was established to link the financial institutions and their instruments. The National Shariah Advisory Council on Islamic Banking and Takaful (NSAC) was established as the highest Shariah authority on takaful in Malaysia. On 1 October 1999, Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (BMMB) was established. The establishment of BMMB was the result of the joining between Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Berhad (BBMB) and Bank of Commerce Berhad (BOCB).Islamic Banks1. Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB)2.
